Job summary

Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital is seeking a Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) Specialist to ensure accurate documentation and DRG assignment. You will collaborate with physicians and care teams, educate providers on documentation standards, and participate in pre-bill reviews to support compliant coding.

Qualified candidates have an NC RN license, a BSN, and at least five years of direct clinical nursing experience. CCDS is encouraged within two years of hire.

Qualifications

• RN license in NC required.
• BSN degree from an accredited program.
• Minimum five years of direct clinical nursing experience.
• CCDS certification is highly recommended within two years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates appropriate clinical documentation to support severity of illness and complexity of care, using MS-DRG guidelines.
• Review and resolve pre-bill clinical issues to ensure accurate DRG assignment for billing.
• Collaborate with case management, nursing, quality, and analytics to resolve physician documentation queries.
• Provide one-on-one education to physicians and providers about documentation needs; support ICD-10-CM/PCS training.
• Maintain CDMP processes and ensure timely pre-bill review and coding guidance.
