Job summary

The US Oncology Network's Texas Oncology is seeking a Coding Specialist to join its Central Business Office in Richardson, TX. This full-time hybrid remote position supports coding of medical records across oncology services and requires residence in Texas.

You will assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes, review documentation for accuracy, and work with providers to resolve coding issues while complying with HIPAA and payer guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; completed medical record tech course.
• Minimum one year of medical coding experience; three years preferred.
• RHIT certification preferred; knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT-4 coding systems desirable.

Responsibilities

• Review provider documentation and assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes in accordance with official coding guidelines and payer requirements.
• Apply coding knowledge across oncology specialties including breast, general, colorectal, gynecologic, urologic, thoracic surgeries and related services.
• Assign diagnoses and procedures accurately while maintaining productivity and quality standards.
• Review documentation to determine code assignment, sequencing, and medical necessity support; ensure payer-specific reimbursement requirements are met.
• Identify documentation deficiencies and collaborate with providers to obtain clarification.
• Demonstrate knowledge of E/M coding guidelines and note that providers are responsible for level selection.
• Research coding, reimbursement, and regulatory questions using coding references and payer policies.
• Assist with denial prevention and revenue integrity by identifying coding trends and opportunities.
