Job summary

Safety National is seeking an Accountant I, Reinsurance to join the Accounting & Finance team in St. Louis. You will help ensure timely and accurate reinsurance accounting, including ceded/assumed reinsurance, and assist with financial reporting.

You will post cash transactions, prepare adjustments, reconcile accounts, and support month-end close while collaborating with experienced professionals. A bachelor's degree in accounting and strong attention to detail are required.

Qualifications

• Coursework or professional experience in accounting.
• Excellent organizational skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Dependable, motivated, and adaptable, with the ability to maintain a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including Excel and Outlook.
• Must be presently authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future.
• Hybrid work schedule with a minimum of 3 days per week in the St. Louis Corporate Office, 1832 Schuetz Rd., Saint Louis, MO.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accounting functions within reinsurance systems and post cash transactions.
• Prepare premium and claims adjustments and process reinsurance payments and wire transfers.
• Reconcile general ledger, escrow, and bank accounts; assist with month-end closing.
• Prepare financial statements (monthly, quarterly, annual) and assist with audits.
• Collaborate with internal departments and external partners to ensure accurate accounting operations.
