Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Senior Rear Seat Structure Design Release Engineer to own rear seat structures from concept through launch and production. You will define system requirements, lead design and integration, and guide execution with strong independent judgment and technical leadership.

Minimum 5 years in product development with structural components, plus experience reading 3D data and using Vis-Mock-up. Hybrid work at Warren Tech Center with travel up to 15%.”

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in product development, preferably with structural components or seating systems.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret 3D data and review designs using tools such as Vis-Mock-up or equivalent.
• Strong foundation in engineering fundamentals and mechanics; connect system-level performance to component design.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and integration of rear seat structures for large-scope vehicle programs.
• Own and develop SORs for rear seat structure subsystems with cross-functional teams.
• Lead design reviews for rear seat structures ensuring safety and program targets.
• Define and maintain ICDs for interfaces and resolve conflicts effectively.
• Lead PDT for components/subsystems including timing, parts lists, DFx considerations, and risk mitigation.
• Release production designs on time meeting all regulatory and quality requirements.
• Conduct engineering reviews to ensure design fidelity and readiness at milestones.
• Act as primary technical interface between internal and external organizations.
• Lead launch of rear seat structures at assembly plants and supplier facilities.
• Drive problem-solving for cost, quality, safety, and warranty issues.
