Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Design Release Engineer for Mechatronics Hardware in a hybrid setup across Warren and Milford, MI. You will design, validate, and release hardware for vehicle sensing, access, drivetrain, and high voltage electronics while coordinating with suppliers and internal teams.

Ideal candidates hold a Master’s in Engineering with experience in DFMEA, CTS/SOR, and PPAP processes, and are proficient in cross-functional collaboration and problem solving within automotive

Qualifications

• Must have strong design and validation experience for mechatronics hardware and calibration.
• Experience coordinating multi-functional teams to integrate components into vehicles.
• DFMEA development and updates experience.
• Experience creating ICD strategies and templates.
• Ability to release components for prototypes and production vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Oversee design and validation for mechatronics hardware calibrations and application software.
• Lead Product Development Team (PDT) meetings to coordinate integration of components into the vehicle.
• Support DFMEA development and updates.
• Create and maintain Interface Control Document (ICD) strategy and templates.
• Author Engineering Work Orders for prototype and production releases.
• Prepare timing plans to meet MRD dates.
• Troubleshoot component and vehicle issues using Jira and related systems.
• Develop and maintain CTS for mechatronic devices.
