Job summary

Advantage Technical is seeking a Design & Release Engineer for underbody structures in Dearborn, MI. The role focuses on leading design, release, validation, and ongoing support of body components throughout the product lifecycle, with a hybrid schedule (4 days onsite).

You will own components from concept to production, design sheet metal parts, coordinate with suppliers on manufacturability and stamping, manage changes, and drive APQP activities to ensure successful launches.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
• Experience with automotive Design & Release Engineering processes.
• Knowledge of sheet metal design, steel and aluminum structures, and manufacturing processes.
• Experience with APQP, change management, engineering releases, and product validation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage projects and component ownership throughout the product lifecycle.
• Experience with automotive engineering systems and BOM management preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own underbody structure components from concept through production and ongoing product development
• Design and release sheet metal components and assemblies, including floor panels, dash cowl structures, reinforcements, and front body structures
• Collaborate with suppliers to evaluate part manufacturability, stamping feasibility, and assembly requirements
• Manage engineering changes, release activities, and product documentation
• Support APQP activities and ensure successful launch readiness
• Coordinate testing, validation, and acceptance activities to confirm performance requirements are met
• Work closely with CAE, manufacturing, suppliers, and cross-functional engineering teams
• Maintain engineering data, bills of materials, and release documentation
