Job summary

Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines is seeking a Product Owner to support multiple groups, translate business needs into a vision and prioritized backlog, and help bridge business desires with technology capabilities.

You will collaborate with business leaders and users to refine the product roadmap with IT Architecture, and ensure the backlog is visible and actionable for delivery teams. The role requires strong communication and teamwork in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• BS or MS degree in Computer Science or Business or equivalent job experience required.
• 1-3 years of experience managing product backlogs, overseeing product and technology roadmaps.
• 2+ years data analytics experience preferred.
• Experience delivering products using agile methodology.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) as well as interpersonal skills.
• Effective in a culture of teamwork, collaboration and accountability.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Highly organized with the ability to plan and prioritize multiple tasks.
• Results-oriented and self-motivated.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with business leaders, subject matter experts, and users to understand and translate needs into a vision, strategy, features, and backlog.
• Understand and apply the agile development methodology.
• Create and deliver reporting and analytics to support project work and delivery.
• Serve as the conduit between user needs, technical capabilities, and product requirements, and develop product roadmaps with IT Architecture.
• Lead backlog refinement with delivery teams for ongoing and future initiatives.
• Work with vendor partners to plan work and ensure deliverables meet Bank requirements.
• Ensure backlog visibility and clarity for the delivery team.
• Participate in team meetings related to product sprints.
• Remove impediments and implement process improvements for quality delivery.
• Negotiate trade-offs between features, quality, and dates to provide the best solution.
• Keep leadership informed with accurate information and recommendations.
• Identify non-functional requirements with Architects and Tech Leads.
• Coordinate with QA and delivery teams for test cases and regression tests.
• Coordinate UAT with business users.
