Job summary

Georgia-Pacific is seeking a contribution‑minded Buyer for our Palatka, FL site. You will work with mill requestors to drive purchasing in a high‑volume, time‑critical environment, handling MRO, direct materials, chemicals, spare parts and services from external vendors.

This onsite role offers the opportunity to work 1–2 days per week from home, leveraging Ariba, SAP/S4 and contractor management tools as part of our Strategic Sourcing & Procurement team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree combined with at least 1 year of procurement experience, OR 3+ years of procurement or similar field (e.g. project management, warehousing, accounting, supply chain)
• Experience using Microsoft Office Suite including Teams, Word, Outlook, and SharePoint
• Intermediate Excel skills, including experience with functionality and logic formulas

Responsibilities

• Processes purchase orders from requisitions using the purchasing system
• Ensures contractual documents reflect terms, freight terms, incoterms and key commercial terms
• Issues RFQs, analyzes quotes, negotiates price and terms, and selects suppliers based on total cost of ownership
• Leverages strategic supplier contracts to maximize value
• Collaborates with internal requestors to understand requirements and timing
• Maintains customer focus and urgency in procurement
• Administers contractor tools like Ariba, ISNET, and SAP/S4
• Facilitates competitive bid events through Ariba and analyzes bids for compliance
