Job summary

Genesee Metal Stamping is seeking a seasoned Tooling Design Engineer to architect stamping dies, tooling, and check fixtures. You will lead the tool build lifecycle with internal and external shops, own timelines, and drive quality gates to deliver parts at speed and cost.

You will run tooling trials, troubleshoot form/fit/function, and coordinate with Engineering, Tool & Die, Quality, and Production to launch and sustain tools. A strong CAD, GD&T, and ISO/PPAP background is required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in tooling design/development or manufacturing engineering, with a progressive die focus.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks (Logopress preferred) and familiarity with 2D design.
• GD&T mastery and expert print interpretation.
• Practical grounding in tool and die build, debug, machining, and setup/repair.
• Root-cause analysis skills to resolve part failures quickly.
• Exposure to transfer/progressive dies, coil-fed presses, and in-die tapping/assembly.
• APQP/PPAP execution experience; working knowledge of ISO standards.
• Lean/CI mindset with measurable improvements delivered.

Responsibilities

• Architect stamping dies, tooling, and check fixtures with CAD that meet safety and performance criteria.
• Lead tool build lifecycle with internal and external shops; own timelines and quality gates.
• Run tooling trials and validations; troubleshoot form, fit, and function to steady-state production.
• Coordinate across Engineering, Tool & Die, Quality, and Production to launch and sustain tools.
• Publish and maintain complete design documentation: models, drawings, specifications, and standards.
• Continuously propose improvements to elevate efficiency and minimize waste.
