Job summary

Actalent is seeking an entry-level Distribution Design Engineer I to join our power delivery design team in Wayland, MI. This role focuses on planning, engineering, and designing electric distribution systems for safe, reliable service to residential and commercial customers.

You will work under experienced engineers to develop work packages for overhead and underground distribution, perform field engineering, and use CAD tools like AutoCAD or MicroStation to create drawings and documentation,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Environmental Engineering preferred.
• Experience with CAD tools for engineering design (AutoCAD, MicroStation).
• Foundational knowledge of power distribution and related engineering principles.

Responsibilities

• Plan, engineer, and design electric distribution systems for reliable power delivery.
• Determine need, size, location, and timing of infrastructure with constraints.
• Develop work packages for overhead and underground distribution systems.
• Perform field engineering to gather requirements and verify conditions.
• Use CAD tools to create and update distribution drawings and documentation.
• Collaborate with internal teams and clients to resolve design issues.
• Follow codes such as NESC and established engineering procedures.
• Support post-construction reviews and identify improvement opportunities.
• Mix of field inspections and office/remote design work.
