Job summary

Actalent is seeking an entry-level Distribution Design Engineer I to plan, engineer, and design electric distribution systems for residential and commercial customers. You will work under experienced engineers to develop work packages for overhead and underground distribution, perform field engineering, and support design calculations.

The role offers growth within a large power engineering organization, with a hybrid work arrangement (70% remote, 30% field) in Wayland, MI and a starting pay

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field required; experience is per role level.
• Experience with CAD tools for engineering design (AutoCAD, MicroStation) and drawing production.
• Comfort performing field inspections and site validations; able to travel within territory.

Responsibilities

• Plan, engineer, and design electric distribution systems for residential/commercial delivery.
• Determine need, size, location, and timing of power delivery infrastructure considering constraints.
• Develop work packages for overhead and underground distribution projects.
• Perform field engineering to verify conditions and identify conflicts with utilities or site constraints.
• Carry out design calculations using established procedures and codes.
• Create and update distribution drawings using CAD tools.
• Support post‑construction reviews and drive improvements.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external clients to align on requirements.
