Actalent is seeking an entry-level Distribution Design Engineer I to support planning, engineering, and designing electric distribution systems for safe, reliable power delivery. You will assist with field engineering and design calculations on overhead and underground residential distribution projects under experienced engineers.

This contract role in Sparta, MI offers a hybrid work arrangement (roughly 70% from home and 30% in the field) with strong growth potential within a large power

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or closely related field.
• Associate degree with 1–3 years of relevant experience considered.

Responsibilities

• Plan, engineer, and design electric distribution systems for reliable power delivery.
• Determine need, size, location, and timing of distribution infrastructure within constraints.
• Develop work packages for overhead and underground distribution.
• Perform field engineering to gather requirements and verify conditions.
• Conduct design calculations using established procedures and codes.
• Create/update drawings with CAD tools (AutoCAD, MicroStation).
• Support post-construction reviews to ensure design meets requirements.
• Collaborate with internal teams and utility clients to resolve design issues.
