Job summary

Thomson Reuters is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a platform engineering team responsible for backend services powering AI agent workflows and cloud infrastructure. You will stay close to architecture while guiding roadmaps and technical strategy.

You will drive CI/CD, IaC, and observability initiatives, ensure scalable, reliable systems, and mentor engineers in a fast-paced, AI-enabled environment.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software engineering with leadership experience.
• Experience leading a team with 1:1s and performance reviews.
• Strong proficiency in Python (FastAPI or similar) or another backend language.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, Redis, API design, and AWS including Kubernetes (EKS).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and IaC practices.
• Experience with observability tooling (OpenTelemetry, Datadog).
• Experience with LLM/Generative AI infrastructure is a plus.
• Strong system design, debugging, and performance optimization.

Responsibilities

• Own people-management responsibilities for a team of platform engineers, including hiring, performance reviews, and career development, while staying technically engaged.
• Set and communicate team-level technical strategy and roadmap in partnership with engineering leadership.
• Guide the design and delivery of backend and platform services powering AI agent workflows for reliability and speed.
• Steer the evolution of the CI/CD and progressive-delivery infrastructure for safe, continuous shipping.
• Own and evolve cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code practices.
• Champion scalable, reliable backend architecture across a microservices/event-driven system.
• Drive cross-functional initiatives with product, applied-AI, and infrastructure teams.
• Raise the bar on engineering practices: code quality, testing, observability, CI/CD, and op-ex.
