Faro Health in San Diego seeks an experienced Senior Architect to design platform-scale systems and own architecture end-to-end. You will mentor engineers, guide cross-team initiatives, and partner with product, security, and data teams to deliver scalable solutions.

The role emphasizes hands-on prototyping, architecture reviews, and strategic design choices that influence multiple engineering teams within a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• Experience designing large-scale platform architectures across multiple teams.
• Ability to balance performance, reliability, security and cost across systems.
• Ability to defend designs in architectural reviews and translate business needs into technical plans.

Responsibilities

• Own System Design: Lead the design of large-scale, cross-team platform capabilities from ideation to release, ensuring business requirements are gathered and met.
• Own Non-Functional Requirements: Ensure performance, scalability, reliability, security, observability, and cost targets are met.
• Sequence Architecture Into Delivery: Break designs into increments teams can actually ship, avoiding blockers.
• Architectural Review: Write, critique, and defend designs, identifying reversible vs irreversible decisions.
• Build-vs-Buy Evaluation: Recommend build-vs-buy decisions for new or aging features.
• Hands-On Innovation: Contribute to architecture and development of high-complexity features.
• Champion Best Practices: Promote engineering standards across the organization.
• Mentor & Lead: Mentor engineers to accelerate the product roadmap.
• Drive Adoption With Internal Customers: Deliver excellent experiences for engineering teams and business stakeholders to choose your platform.
• Represent Architecture Externally: Present architecture to strategic customers and their technical leadership.
