Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Mid-Level Piping Engineer in Knoxville with a hybrid work arrangement. Expect three days in the office and two remote days. The role focuses on piping evaluations per ASME codes, vibration analysis, hydrodynamic loading, and pipe support design.

Responsibilities include preparing calculations, specifications, and design inputs, reviewing designs, and mentoring newer engineers. BS/MS in engineering and 3+ years of experience are required.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Aerospace, or Structural/Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program, with emphasis in solid mechanics, structural analysis, theory of elasticity, metallurgy, and finite element analysis
• 3 or more years of relevant experience
• Must have knowledge of ASME B31.1 and ASME B&PV Section III piping codes
• Knowledge of design, selection, and application of pipe supporting elements
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Provides technical support on projects by performing calculations, specifications, and component designs
• Prepares complex calculations and reviews simple calculations
• Prepares specifications for most balance of plant equipment
• Prepares bid evaluations for single components and conducts economic evaluations
