Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a high-energy Piping Designer to join our Building Mechanical team in Pittsburgh, PA. You will perform mechanical and piping engineering under a senior PM, coordinate drafting, and mentor junior staff while delivering safe, cost-effective solutions for complex industrial facilities.

This hybrid role requires about 40% in-office work, travel to other offices or countries, and collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams to meet project goals and client needs.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of piping design for industrial and commercial facilities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to perform field/site visits, may include climbing ladders.
• Adaptability to a fast-paced team with tight deadlines.
• Lead/build mechanical team on projects and collaborate remotely.

Responsibilities

• Knowledge of procedures and technical concepts within the piping discipline and the ability to apply relevant codes to piping design projects.
• Perform piping systems concept development.
• Generate piping design calculations including equipment sizing and pipe sizing calculations.
• Create P&ID’s and Block Flow Diagrams
• Perform equipment selections.
• Generate specifications for systems and equipment.
• Coordinate with project team members, contractors, clients and other disciplines to develop designs.
• Perform static pipe stress analysis
• Lead a design team within the piping discipline and manage scope/budget.
• Travel to other offices/countries as needed.
