Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Petroleum Engineer specializing in Production Optimization to join our client in a hybrid role based in Welkom, Free State. You will maximize hydrocarbon production from existing wells, analyze performance data, and implement integrated strategies in collaboration with reservoir engineers and geologists.

We require a Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering and at least 4 years of experience in production operations and optimization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in production operations and optimization.
• Proficient in production analysis software and tools.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Willingness to travel occasionally to field operations.
• Ability to adapt to a hybrid work model with self-discipline.

Responsibilities

• Analyze well performance data to identify production inefficiencies.
• Develop and optimize artificial lift systems (e.g., ESPs, rod pumps).
• Evaluate strategies for well stimulation and recompletion to boost output.
• Monitor field production and propose mitigation for decline trends.
• Collaborate with geologists and reservoir engineers on reservoir behavior impacts.
• Work with operations teams to safely implement production enhancements.
• Prepare technical reports on performance, recommendations, and results.
• Troubleshoot production system issues and provide timely solutions.
• Contribute to production forecasting and economic evaluations.
