Job summary

Health Monitor Network is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Manager to own end-to-end payroll operations and related expense management. You will process multi-state payroll, administer ADP timekeeping, and ensure compliance with tax rules while partnering with HR and vendors.

This role is a hands-on individual contributor with a focus on accuracy and internal controls. The position follows a hybrid work model with three days on-site at our Montvale, NJ headquarters and up to two days remote.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of progressive payroll experience, including multi-state processing.
• CPP designation preferred but not required.
• Strong knowledge of payroll systems (ADP, Paylocity, Workday, UKG).
• Excel proficiency (SUMIF, VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, and date functions).

Responsibilities

• Process end-to-end multi-state payroll on a recurring cycle and ensure on-time payments.
• Administer and maintain ADP timekeeping, review timesheets for accuracy.
• Maintain and audit payroll records (hires, terminations, changes, garnishments, deductions).
• Ensure compliance with federal/state/local payroll tax rules and wage-and-hour laws.
• Collaborate with HR to ensure correct exempt/non-exempt classifications.
• Serve as primary contact for the payroll vendor and resolve system issues.
• Onboard new employees to Ramp expense platform.
• Prepare commission accruals and statements for sales.
• Prepare payroll/benefit and accrual journal entries.
• Collaborate on benefits, 401(k), leave pay, and related programs.
• Respond to employee pay, deductions, and tax inquiries professionally.
• Support audits by preparing payroll and expense reports.
• Identify process improvements to boost payroll efficiency and controls.
• Maintain confidentiality of payroll and financial data.
