Job summary

Greenrise Technologies in Nashville seeks a Payroll Manager to own day-to-day payroll for a multi-state workforce and administer benefits programs. This is a hybrid role within commuting distance of a Greenrise office.

You will ensure payroll accuracy, manage benefits (medical, dental, vision, HSA/FSA, 401(k)), and build strong relationships with employees, managers, and vendors. The role emphasizes compliance, system optimization, and process improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of progressive experience in multi-state payroll.
• In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
• Proficient in payroll software and systems, preferably Paycor.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with timely issue resolution.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Oversee weekly payroll runs, garnishments, deductions, and incentive payouts.
• Ensure payroll accuracy and timeliness with strict deadlines.
• Administer timekeeping system and review time records for accuracy.
• Conduct payroll audits and investigations for compliance.
• Prepare and distribute payroll reports and tax year-end documents.
• Respond to payroll inquiries from employees and managers.
• Serve as primary administrator of benefits programs (medical, dental, vision, HSA/FSA, 401(k)).
• Reconcile benefit invoices and process enrollments/COBRA changes.
• Collaborate with broker and carriers on claims and eligibility issues.
• Act as payroll system expert supporting states, new state add-ons, and code updates.
• Partner with Paycor rep to optimize system usage.
• Implement processes/tech to streamline payroll and reduce manual tasks.
• Assist with payroll integration during acquisitions.
• Ensure IRS/state tax compliance and accurate wage reporting.
• Interface with leaders and employees as the payroll contact.
