Job summary

Patient Funding Alternatives (PFA) seeks a Patient Advocate Specialist to identify and enroll Medicaid patients into the Health Insurance Premium Payment (HIPP) program. Hybrid role, 2–3 days on-site at MercyOne Children’s Hospital, with a focus on patient engagement, enrollment, and benefit coordination.

You will build trust with patients, manage referrals, and coordinate with hospital staff to ensure timely enrollment while meeting weekly activity targets.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Fully bilingual in Spanish.
• 2+ years in a patient-facing or customer-facing role with measurable outcomes.
• Independent on-site work with limited supervision.
• CRM or case management system experience; familiarity with iPad/iPhone.

Responsibilities

• Engage eligible patients and families from hospital referrals.
• Explain HIPP clearly and empathetically; adapt communication to each family.
• Address hesitancy and questions without pressuring patients.
• Collect complete application data and documentation.
• Hand off cleanly to State Operations and Benefit & Advocacy teams for submission and ongoing support.
• Own caseload from first contact to enrollment.
