Job summary

Finnegan seeks a Patent Paralegal I in Reston, VA, to assist attorneys with preparing court filings, drafting and editing documents, and managing time entries and calendars. The role supports IP prosecution across patent and trademark matters in a hybrid/onsite setup.

You will handle billing, travel coordination, and training to grow into more substantive duties over time, with two shift options and schedule flexibility per business needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree or paralegal certificate preferred.
• Proficiency in MS Office; strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparation of court filings and pleadings, memoranda, discovery and other legal documents.
• Prepare, edit, proofread, and redline documents for accuracy and formatting.
• Prepare client bills and related forms; arrange expenses and invoice payments.
• Coordinate travel and meeting logistics, videoconferences, conferences calls, and room setups.
• Open new client matters and organize attorney contacts and calendars.
• Input and review attorney time entries and generate reports.
• Ensure timely relay of client communications and maintain paper/electronic files per policy.
• Support across IP secretarial areas including litigation, patent and trademark prosecution.
