Job summary

Finnegan in Palo Alto, CA is seeking a Patent Paralegal I to support attorneys with preparing basic legal documents, proofreading, and research. This hybrid/onsite role offers two shift options: 9:00–5:30 and 11:00–7:30, with possible scheduling flexibility for the later shift.

You will assist with court filings, calendar management, time entry entries, client bills, and coordination of meetings and travel, while gaining exposure to IP prosecution, patent and trademark support.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree or paralegal certificate preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and fast, accurate proofreading.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a hybrid/onsite role.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparation of court filings and pleadings.
• Edit, proofread, and redline documents for accuracy.
• Prepare client bills and manage expense reimbursements.
• Coordinate travel, meetings, videoconferences and rooms.
• Open new client matters and maintain attorney calendars.
• Input and review time entries and generate reports.
• Ensure timely client communications.
• Maintain paper and electronic files per records policy.
• Participate in training and develop secretarial duties.
• Support IP secretarial areas as assigned.
