Fredrikson & Byron seeks a patent attorney to join its Intellectual Property Group in a hybrid role, based in Des Moines or Minneapolis. You will handle patent prosecutions, counsel clients on IP strategy, and support due diligence in a collaborative Midwest firm.

Ideal candidates have 2–6 years of patent prosecution experience, an engineering background in electrical or mechanical fields, and an active US license with USPTO registration.

Qualifications

• Must have 2–6 years patent prosecution experience.
• Strong technical background in electrical or mechanical engineering.
• Excellent writing and analytical skills.
• Active license to practice law in at least one US jurisdiction; ability to become licensed in Minnesota or Iowa.

Responsibilities

• Manage patent prosecution across diverse technologies.
• Counsel clients on IP strategy, portfolio development, and freedom-to-operate analyses.
• Support IP due diligence and related matters; assist in potential litigation support.
