Job summary

Mass General Brigham is hiring a Practice Assistant II for the Orthopedic Hand Surgery team at Massachusetts General Hospital. The role is hybrid, with Monday–Friday hours, coordinating patient appointments, surgical scheduling, and preoperative planning in a fast-paced ambulatory setting.

You will aid surgeons and staff, manage Epic workflows, and help patients navigate care while supporting clinical, operational, and academic missions of the department.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2–3 years of office experience required.
• Clinical background and Epic experience strongly preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong written and verbal communication with patients and colleagues.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate outpatient appointments, manage provider schedules, and maintain scheduling records.
• Assist with surgical scheduling, case entry, and preoperative testing coordination.
• Support OR block scheduling and calendar management to maximize efficiency.
• Obtain prior authorizations for imaging and injections as needed.
• Monitor Epic In Basket messages and route clinical questions appropriately.
• Assist patients and families with scheduling, testing, procedures, and follow-ups.
• Process patient documentation including disability forms and medical letters.
• Maintain electronic medical records and request lab results as needed.
• Support clinic readiness, check-in/check-out, registration and billing processes.
