Job summary

Summit Utilities, Inc. is seeking an Operations Accountant (SGL15) for a hybrid role that can be based in Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, or Maine. The candidate will apply GAAP to record financial information and prepare reports for Summit Utilities, Inc. and subsidiaries.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in accounting, at least 3 years of accounting experience, and strong Excel skills. You will work with State Ops and FP&A teams and support audits and process improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in accounting required.
• Minimum 3 years of accounting experience required.
• Regulated utility accounting a plus.
• Proficiency in Excel required.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and complete standard and complex journal entries for month-end close (payroll and expenses).
• Prepare entries according to close calendar deadlines.
• Perform trend analysis on assigned accounts.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly.
• Identify and implement process improvements.
• Prepare organized work for management review.
• Resolve issues independently.
• Collaborate with State Ops and FP&A on coding, research, and questions.
• Contribute to special projects to drive initiatives to completion.
• Assist in annual audit: complete PBC schedules, maintain GAAP compliance, respond to auditors.
