Job summary

Springer Nature America, Inc. is seeking a Commissioning Editor for CMA, based in New York or Jersey City (Hybrid).

The role focuses on attracting high-quality content for Topical Collections in Springer Nature Open Access journals, using data-driven topic selection and collaboration with Editorial Board Members. You will engage Guest Editors and authors, coordinate editorial workflows, and work with data scientists to ensure evidence-based topic identification, contributing to Open Access

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably STEM, with interest in science and publishing.
• Understanding of research publishing landscape and Open Access.
• Experience managing a journal or portfolio is desirable.
• Strong data analysis and reporting skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead commissioning strategies for key journals and drive portfolio growth.
• Define best practices across the Collections lifecycle and publishing workflows.
• Identify topics using market intelligence and data-driven analysis.
• Collaborate with Editorial Boards, Guest Editors, authors, and cross-functional teams.
• Manage the Collections pipeline against publication targets and deadlines.
