Job summary

Springer Nature is hiring for a Managing Editor, Collections Management and Acquisitions in the United States. The role is hybrid with offices in New York, Jersey City or Philadelphia, focusing on organizing and managing live collections within SN Journals.

You will coordinate editors, authors, and production teams, monitor performance, and ensure high-quality content flows from submission through publication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Experience in scholarly publishing with editorial workflows and publishing systems.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects, priorities and deadlines.
• Strong understanding of publishing ethics, research integrity, peer review processes, and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Manage multiple live collections simultaneously, establishing priorities and driving projects to completion.
• Support Commissioning Editors, Guest Editors, and Authors throughout the collection lifecycle with clear communication and strong relationships.
• Collaborate with Marketing to promote collections and balance stakeholder needs.
• Act as primary contact for Guest Editors and operations teams, facilitating collaboration and seamless communication.
• Monitor, analyze and report collection performance using data and metrics to drive insights and decision-making.
• Track content flow against submission windows, identify risks and resolve issues to meet objectives.
• Provide oversight of commissioned content, manage escalations and maintain quality and service standards.
• Oversee manuscript screening and ensure progress through peer review and editorial processes per policies and quality requirements.
• Monitor editorial turnaround times and workflow efficiency to identify bottlenecks and improve performance.
• Partner with Editorial Support Advisor to develop and improve workflow documentation and scalable practices.
• Serve as liaison for Production and cross-functional teams to ensure content progresses through publishing workflows and systems.
