Job summary

Springer Nature in New York/Jersey City is seeking a Commissioning Editor for CMA to attract high-quality content into Open Access journals by creating Topical Collections. You will collaborate with Editorial Boards, data scientists, and Guest Editors to ensure data-driven topic selection and engagement of researchers as editors or authors.

The role sits in the Collections Management and Acquisition Team within Publishing Performance & Intelligence, offering hybrid working and opportunities to

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree, preferably in a STEM discipline with a keen interest in Science
• 3–4 years' experience in the publishing industry or science research
• Strong understanding of research publishing landscape, Open Access focus
• Direct experience managing a journal or portfolio is desirable
• Excellent data analysis and reporting skills
• Ability to adapt quickly to change and manage competing priorities

Responsibilities

• Lead commissioning strategies for key journals to drive portfolio growth
• Define and implement best practices across the Collections lifecycle
• Identify and prioritize Collection topics using data-driven analysis
• Monitor market trends and translate insights into opportunities
• Identify and engage Guest Editors and authors through effective communication
