Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Virginia is seeking a designer/draftsman to join a multi-disciplinary team. The role focuses on producing design drawings from inputs, applying CAD skills, and expanding 3D design proficiency within a collaborative environment.

The position involves creating scalable master sketches and may include on-site client walkdowns to collect information for projects. Interaction with vendors ensures design accuracy and timely adjustments.

Qualifications

• An Associate's Degree in a technical area including drafting or a high school diploma and equivalent technical design experience.
• 5 years or more drafting experience using standard computer drafting tools (i MicroStation).
• Knowledge in MicroStation.
• Ability to multi-task from project to project.

Responsibilities

• Prepare design drawings based on inputs from design teams.
• Apply CAD skills and training in 3D design software environments.
• Create master sketches to scale showing relationships to existing facilities with exact specifications.
• Attend client site walkdowns with experienced designers to gather data.
• Explain drawings to vendors and contractors to inform design adjustments.
