Job summary

Mainspring Energy in Menlo Park is seeking a Modeling and Simulation Engineer to support the design, test, and manufacture of our linear generators. You will refine how generators are designed by providing the tools for the control system to be designed and validated.

The role requires a strong quantitative background and fluency with Python and C++, plus experience with ODEs/DAEs and numerical methods. This is a hybrid position onsite at our Menlo Park HQ.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree with strong applied mathematics foundation.
• 5+ years in multiple physical domains relevant to linear generators.
• Experience with numerical modeling and simulation tools.

Responsibilities

• Determine dynamic response to control commands and write models for simulation.
• Coordinate with controls engineers; read/write C++ inputs/outputs for controllers.
• Generate test plans and oversee execution on the generator.
• Write/debug solvers for ODEs/DAEs.
• Architect custom simulation environments and optimize models for real-time steps.
