Job summary

Mainspring Energy is seeking a CFD Modeling Engineer to support the design, test, and manufacture of our linear generators. You will analyze transient gas flow, chemical kinetics, and heat transfer using CFD tools to inform system designs.

The role emphasizes translating complex flow phenomena into actionable feedback, building lower-order models for simulations, and collaborating with software, mechanical, and product teams.

Qualifications

• Graduate-level engineering degree with 10+ years in CFD and applied mathematical foundations.
• 2+ years with at least one commercial CFD package and one CAD package.
• Experience generating and validating models from 0D to 3D in programming languages such as C/C++, Python, or Julia.

Responsibilities

• Run CFD simulations to analyze transient gas flow, chemical kinetics, and heat transfer.
• Generate appropriate 3D CAD models from CAD data and prepare meshes for CFD analysis.
• Develop and validate lower-order models for system-level simulations.
• Write code in C++ and Python to automate CFD workflows and improve models.
• Document simulation results and present findings to stakeholders.
