Job summary

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory is seeking a Software Developer to design, develop, deploy, and maintain critical software applications for emergency planning and atmospheric release response. You will work in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team within the GS-CAD division, contributing across the SDLC with modern desktop and web technologies.

The role offers a hybrid work schedule with up to 2 days remote, and may be filled at SES.3 or SES.4 level based on experience.

Qualifications

• Requires DOE Q-level or Top-Secret clearance at hire.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in CS/CE or related field.
• Proficient in OO languages like C++ or Java.
• Strong coding standards, secure, scalable software.
• Experience with Git or modern version control.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; team collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Own and contribute to design, development, deployment, and maintenance of software applications.
• Participate in all SDLC phases from requirements to deployment.
• Perform peer code reviews and write user/documentation.
• Collaborate with scientists and domain experts to align deliverables.
• Provide swift technical solutions for complex requests.
• Mentor teammates and manage multiple tasks at SES.4 level.
