The role focuses on handling medical record requests, HIPAA compliance, and coordinating with providers within a hybrid Phoenix-based setup. Candidates should have 2 years in medical records and 1 year of customer service, with strong organization and communication

Qualifications

• 2 years of professional experience with medical records.
• High school diploma.
• 1 year of customer service experience.
• Familiar with federal and state laws and regulations concerning medical records, including HIPAA Standards.
• Excellent organizational skills and able to work in a team centered environment.
• Ability to work effectively with other departments, physicians and all ancillary staff.
• Strong computer skills with emphasis on Adobe PDF, MS Office Word and Excel.
• Physical Requirements: Must be able to safely lift and move boxes weighing up to 50 pounds as required for projects.

Responsibilities

• Responds to all requests for medical record information from various requestors including health care providers, patients, attorneys, third-party payors, disability, subpoenas, and internal requestors.
• Ensures confidentiality of Release of Information in accordance with HIPAA federal regulations, state regulations, and CHS policy.
• Analyze content of the medical record documents to determine if information needs to be scanned. Scan medical record using scanner into the appropriate EMR.
• Analyze medical records and information to ensure compliance with HIPAA, state, federal, and CHS Privacy Policies for release of documentation.
• Notify providers to request approval for release of documents per policies and via the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Appropriately escalates unresolved and frequent medical records issues to management.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
