Job summary

County of Marin's Consumer and Environmental Protection Division seeks a Consumer and Community Mediation Coordinator to manage mediation programs, outreach, and intake of complaints, including landlord-tenant and other consumer disputes. The role requires strong judgment, supervision of staff and volunteers, and ability to communicate effectively with diverse communities.

Hybrid work schedule with on-site duties and possible remote work, probationary period may require initial on-site work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree with major in law, criminal justice, behavioral sciences, social welfare, social case work, counseling and guidance, psychology, or related subject; three years of public contact experience.
• Criminal investigations experience may substitute for up to two years of the experience required.

Responsibilities

• Manage a wide variety of programs and activities within the Mediation Unit, including alternative dispute resolution, outreach, administrative hearings, and appellate hearings.
• Handle intake, evaluation, and disposition of consumer complaints involving landlord-tenant, animal-related, neighborhood, and homeowners’ association disputes.
• Serve as a primary contact for the public seeking assistance with consumer and community disputes and facilitate accessible, timely resolution.
