Job summary

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) is seeking Mechanical/Structural Engineering Analysts to support stockpile programs. You will build FEA models, perform nonlinear analyses, and contribute to simulations of structural and material responses under thermal and dynamic loads.

Roles may be at SES.1 or SES.2 level, with hybrid work options. Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams is expected, along with occasional travel and adherence to security clearance requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) and structural mechanics.
• Strong background in computational mechanics and simulations.
• Ability to read technical documents and present results clearly.
• Will travel occasionally as needed.

Responsibilities

• Develop FEA models of mechanical components and integrate them into system models.
• Perform structural and thermal analyses using in-house codes for design, modification, and certification.
• Document and present simulation results and technical approaches.
• Collaborate with analysts, code developers, engineers and SMEs under established workflows.
• Support deliverables with travel as needed and perform other duties as assigned.
• At SES.2 level, develop analysis capability enhancements and participate in design reviews.
