Job summary

GHD in Chantilly, VA is seeking a Mechanical Facilities Engineering Intern to work with Senior Mechanical Engineers on industrial mechanical and process piping projects.

This internship offers a hybrid work model, three days in the office, with opportunities to contribute, connect and grow while gaining hands-on design experience in equipment like pumps, compressors, blowers and ventilation systems.

Qualifications

  • Pursuit of Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Strong interest in solid body mechanics, thermal fluid science, heat transfer and rotating equipment dynamics.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Determine material of construction requirements for piping and storage tank systems.
  • Perform hydraulic calculations for fluid transfer systems.
  • Perform basic mechanics of materials calculations for piping design.
  • Develop specifications for procurement of pumps, compressors, blowers, and industrial ventilation systems.
