Job summary

GHD in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Mechanical Facilities Engineering Intern to join our Engineering Design Organization. You will work with Senior Mechanical Engineers on industrial mechanical and process piping projects, designing manufacturing facilities, gas and liquid transfer systems, and ventilation.

Our hybrid workplace blends in-office collaboration three days a week with flexible options. You will develop skills in materials selection, hydraulic calculations, and equipment specifications

Qualifications

• Pursuit of Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Strong design interest in solid body mechanics, thermal fluid science, heat transfer and rotating equipment dynamics.
• Willingness to travel and work in the field as needed (may include overnight travel).

Responsibilities

• Determine material of construction requirements for piping and storage tank systems.
• Perform hydraulic calculations for fluid transfer systems.
• Perform basic mechanics of materials calculations for piping design.
• Develop specifications for procurement of pumps, compressors, blowers, and industrial ventilation systems.
