Job summary

UL Solutions in Northbrook, IL is seeking a Project Engineer to manage client-driven testing and verification across labeling, coatings, and insulation. The hybrid role requires three on-site days per week and close collaboration with clients and UL laboratories.

You will define project scope, coordinate lab activities, ensure UL compliance, and communicate progress and results. A mechanical/chemical/materials engineering background and strong MS Office skills are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Materials Engineering.
• Professional experience in materials development, testing, or similar highly preferred.
• Ability to communicate with customers and internal stakeholders.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Determines project scope, develops a preliminary plan of investigation, and determines project specifications by analyzing client input and product construction.
• Coordinate client visits and communicate project benefits; promote and explain UL services.
• Communicates with clients to discuss technical issues, costs, and completion dates.
• Provides technical assistance to clients and establishes test programs with UL requirements.
• Coordinates laboratory activities and schedules, and prepares data sheets and reports.
• Examines samples for UL compliance and notifies clients of issues or scope changes.
