Job summary

Demand Detroit in Portland, OR is seeking a Manufacturing Assembly Process Engineer I to join our hybrid team. You will support development, implementation, and improvement of assembly manufacturing processes, layouts, tooling concepts, and work instructions.

You’ll collaborate with plant, design engineering, quality, supply chain, and facilities to drive safety, quality, productivity, and ergonomic outcomes while advancing continuous improvement projects across the North American network.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Foundational knowledge of assembly processes, industrial engineering, and mechanical systems.
• Willingness to learn new subjects, tools, and technologies.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and interpret documentation.
• Collaborative communication and ability to travel ~20–25%.

Responsibilities

• Support development, implementation, and improvement of assembly processes.
• Assist with layouts, tooling concepts, workstation designs, and process flows.
• Support safety-critical systems, tooling, automation, and controls.
• Participate in launches, equipment installs, validations, and CI activities.
• Develop and maintain work instructions, specs, and process docs.
