Job summary

State Farm in Summit, NJ is seeking a Paralegal to support attorneys in discovery, trial preparation, and case management for a litigation practice. The role is hybrid, requiring time in the Summit office and in a virtual setting, with standard hours Monday through Friday.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of civil litigation experience (insurance defense or personal injury preferred), paralegal certification, and strong organizational and written communication skills.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of civil litigation experience, preferably insurance defense or personal injury
• Prior paralegal experience, litigation
• Background in drafting discovery responses, trial preparation, and drafting motions/pleadings
• Familiarity with New Jersey court rules and procedures preferred
• Experience reviewing medical records and preparing medical chronologies
• Strong organizational and written communication skills
• Experience with Adobe Bookmarking, case management, and document storage systems

Responsibilities

• Assist attorneys in discovery, pre-trial matters, and trial preparation
• Assist attorneys in handling assigned case files and delivering legal services under attorney supervision
• Prepare cases for court appearances, depositions, and trial including contacting experts and clients
• Prepare medical record summaries, billing summaries, and medical chronologies
• Draft motions, pleadings, and status reports
