Job summary

LHH Recruitment Solutions in Chicago seeks an experienced Litigation Paralegal with a strong background in general civil litigation to support attorneys through all stages of litigation, from inception to resolution.

The role requires 5+ years of civil litigation experience and the ability to thrive in a billable-hour environment, with a hybrid schedule of 3 days in-office and 2 remote days per week. A Bachelor's degree is preferred and a solid knowledge of e-filing is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of general civil litigation experience.
• Experience with billable-hour requirements (annual paralegal billable requirement of 1,440 hours based on a 35-hour work week).
• Personal injury and/or product liability litigation experience preferred.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Aviation or aerospace litigation experience is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of State and Federal Court procedures and e-filing systems.
• Trial preparation and courtroom support experience.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and multitasking abilities.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.

Responsibilities

• Manage litigation matters from inception through mediation, arbitration, settlement, and trial.
• Draft subpoenas for depositions and document production.
• Prepare and manage discovery requests, including interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission.
• Assist with drafting discovery responses, document productions, and privilege logs.
• Prepare attorneys for depositions and hearings.
• Coordinate with and retain expert witnesses.
• E-file documents in State and Federal Courts.
• Monitor litigation deadlines and ensure timely filings and responses.
• Draft legal documents, pleadings, briefs, chronologies, agreements, and mediation/trial binders.
• Conduct factual investigations and legal research.
• Assist with all phases of trial preparation, including witness coordination, exhibit management, trial notebooks, and trial presentations.
• Attend trials and provide litigation support as needed.
