Job summary

Winged Keel Group is seeking a Life Insurance Underwriting Associate to coordinate and manage all aspects of underwriting and implementation. You will provide proactive service to clients, negotiate with carriers, and apply in-depth knowledge of life insurance products, carriers, and underwriting processes.

The role requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, 3-5 years’ experience, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years’ experience in life insurance industry
• Strong knowledge of underwriting process and terminology
• Experience using AI for project-based work
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel

Responsibilities

• General underwriting case management
• Provide regular case status updates to CRMs/PMs
• Ensure client communications and updates are sent regularly
• Confirm agent is contracted, licensed, and appointed
• Conduct telephone interviews to collect applicant information
• Schedule medical exams and follow up to ensure completion
• Coordinate ordering of APS records and review medical history
• Negotiate with carrier underwriters for best risk classification
• Understand impact of final offers on case design
• Prepare and review life insurance applications
• Work with company case managers to issue policies efficiently
• Prepare and send Portfolio Summaries after coverage is placed
• Breakdown underwriting files for the Client Services team
