Job summary

State of Oregon seeks a LAN/WAN Network Engineer (Information Systems Specialist 6) to support and evolve the Department's WAN/LAN infrastructure. The role focuses on traditional network architecture and SDN/cloud options, with responsibilities for configuring, installing, and maintaining network equipment across Cisco and Juniper environments.

The selected candidate will report to Data Center Services and join a team that provides after-hours support.

Qualifications

• Five years of information systems experience in WAN with MPLS and BGP.
• Associate's degree in CS/IT or related field, or two-year vocational training; plus three years WAN/MPLS/BGP experience.
• Bachelor's degree in IT/CS or related field plus one year WAN/MPLS/BGP experience.

Responsibilities

• Configure, install, repair, monitor, and maintain LAN/WAN equipment.
• Support WAN, LAN, and cloud/SDN initiatives; ensure secure, reliable connectivity.
• On-site at the State Data Center in Salem three days per week and provide after-hours support as needed.
