Job summary

Sierra Nevada Corporation in Dayton, OH is seeking a Network Engineer II to design, implement, and troubleshoot complex corporate networks. You will handle LAN/WAN/VPN projects, document configurations, support escalated incidents, and mentor junior staff while ensuring security and compliance.

The role emphasizes collaboration with senior engineers, vendors, and IT teams to deliver reliable networking solutions.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
2+ years of experience in a related field.
6+ years of related experience in the absence of a degree.
Higher level degree may substitute for experience.
A deep understanding of network protocols and services (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
Proficiency with networking switching equipment.
Proficiency with wireless and VPN implementations.
Familiarity with AI in troubleshooting network issues.
Strong experience with networking equipment.
Experience supporting a corporate network with SLAs.

Responsibilities

Implement complex network solutions including LAN/WAN/VPN and wireless networks.
Document network architecture and configurations.
Diagnose and resolve complex network issues including hardware, software, and connectivity problems.
Provide tier-2 support for network incidents and service requests.
Monitor network performance using advanced tools and techniques.
Analyze network traffic and performance metrics to identify bottlenecks and optimize efficiency.
Implement and manage network security measures such as firewalls and IDS/IPS.
Ensure network compliance with policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.
Coordinate with cross-functional teams and external vendors for project delivery.
Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, changes, and procedures.
Generate and present reports on network performance, incidents, and trends.
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior network engineers and IT staff.
Conduct training sessions and knowledge-sharing activities.
Stay current with emerging networking technologies and best practices.
Recommend and implement improvements to network infrastructure and processes.
