State of Oregon seeks a LAN/WAN Network Engineer (Information Systems Specialist 6) to support and evolve the Department's WAN/LAN infrastructure. The role focuses on traditional network architecture and SDN/cloud options, with responsibilities for configuring, installing, and maintaining network equipment across Cisco and Juniper environments.

Position Title: LAN/WAN Network Engineer (Information Systems Specialist 6)
Data Center Services (DCS) is a shared service organization within Enterprise Information Services (EIS). The DCS team maintains and operates a state-of-the-art Data Center, providing a highly secure environment with redundant infrastructure for high availability and efficiency. The services we provide include network connectivity (WAN, LAN, and Wireless), server hosting (mainframe, iSeries, AIX, Linux, and Windows), email services, data center colocation and data backup services. This position is part of the DCS Networking team which monitors, maintains, and supports the managed DCS networking environment for all Agency customers.
As LAN/WAN Network Engineer you will support traditional Network architecture as well as current trends such as Cloud services and Software Defined Networking (SDN) options. Currently, this includes wireless, router and switch administration. This position supports the State's Wide Area Network (WAN), which is the backbone for all agencies to access our State Data Center (SDC) and other shared compute resources and the Local Area Networks (LAN), which involves configuring, installing, debugging, repairing, monitoring, and maintaining network equipment for our Agency customers.
NOTE: The Network team provides after hours support via a paid on-call rotation and must be able to report to the State Data Center in Salem, OR within one hour. The selected candidate will be expected to be on-site in the office three days a week.
