Job summary

The American College of Surgeons, based in Chicago, seeks a Software Developer to design, develop, test, and maintain components for the NCDB and related cancer reporting systems. The role involves backend and web development, data processing, and improving reporting workflows in a hybrid office setting.

You will work under supervision with opportunities to grow in Java/J2EE, Oracle PL/SQL, and web services while supporting cancer research initiatives and quality improvement efforts.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain application components supporting NCDB and related reporting systems.
• Implement enhancements, bug fixes, and new features under guidance from senior developers and technical leads.
• Develop and execute unit and integration tests to ensure functionality and reliability.
• Assist with troubleshooting and resolution of issues in development, test, and production environments.
• Collaborate with developers, analysts, statisticians, and IT partners across the SDLC.
• Follow coding standards, documentation practices, and version control procedures.
• Participate in team knowledge-sharing and learning activities.
