Job summary
Leading AmLaw 50 Law Firm in the United States seeks a Patent Agent to join its Intellectual Property (IP) - Patents Practice on a hybrid schedule.
The role requires a technical degree and 2+ years in patent drafting and prosecution, with expertise in data science, ML/AI, and related tech. You will collaborate with inventors and attorneys to draft and prosecute patents and manage portfolios.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Physics with excellent academic record.
- 2+ years of substantive experience in patent preparation and prosecution.
- Experience in data science, machine learning, AI, wireless communications, sensors, semiconductors, Internet of Things, optics or related fields is highly advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Work with inventors and attorneys to prepare and prosecute patent applications in emerging technology areas.
- Identify inventions through technical discussions with inventors.
- Perform novelty and clearance searches to delineate inventions from existing technologies.
- Draft comprehensive patent applications and negotiate the scope of patent rights with the USPTO.
- Prepare reports and support documentation for patent portfolio management.
