Accounting Search is seeking an IP Patent Agent for a prominent AmLaw 50 law firm in a hybrid role based in New York. The position focuses on patent preparation and prosecution in emerging technology areas, collaborating with inventors and attorneys to draft and prosecute patent applications.

Ideal candidates have a strong engineering or physics background, 2+ years of patent experience, proficiency with Microsoft Office, and excellent analytical and writing skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Physics with excellent academic record
• 2+ years of substantive experience in patent preparation and prosecution
• Experience in data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, wireless communications, sensors, semiconductors, Internet of Things, optics or related fields is highly advantageous
• Working proficiency in Microsoft Office software
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, and writing skills, with an exceptional attention to technical detail and effective organizational and communication skills

Responsabilités

• Work with inventors and attorneys to prepare and prosecute patent applications in emerging technology areas
• Identify inventions through technical discussions with inventors
• Perform novelty and clearance searches to delineate inventions from existing technologies
• Draft comprehensive patent applications and negotiate the scope of patent rights with the USPTO
• Prepare reports and support documentation for patent portfolio management
