Auto-Owners Insurance in Lansing, MI is seeking a motivated Modern Technology Software Developer to join our IT Division. You will develop, maintain, and support software applications for new and existing systems in a hybrid work model.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in CS/IS/IT or related field, with strong knowledge of Java, RESTful services, and front-end/containers. In-office training followed by potential remote days; benefits and a competitive package are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, a related field, or equivalent experience is required.
• Knowledge of Java and RESTful services is strongly preferred.
• Experience with a modern IDE is strongly preferred.
• Experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Node.js, Angular, React, and container deployments is a plus.
• Experience with source control management software is a plus.
• Enthusiasm for driving improvement by finding and implementing solutions to new challenges.
• Must be able to learn and effectively use tools and software development techniques as practiced, acquired, or adopted within the IT Division.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and support software applications for new and existing systems.
• Define, develop, test, analyze, and maintain new and pre-existing software programs and applications.
• Actively participate in code/design reviews and brainstorming sessions.
• Develop program and system documentation.
• Analyze and fix software errors in a timely and accurate fashion.
• Consult with users, architects, project leaders, and management to resolve problems and suggest alternatives.
