Job summary

Optimal is seeking an Instructional Systems Designer - Manufacturing to design and deliver high-quality learning solutions for manufacturing environments. You will lead strategy, design, and development of blended learning, simulations, and job aids to improve safety, quality, and productivity across plants.

The role requires expertise in ADDIE/SAM, collaboration with SMEs, and proficiency in Articulate Storyline, Rise, and Vyond.

Qualifications

4+ years of experience in instructional design, curriculum development, or eLearning, including direct experience supporting manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

Advise manufacturing partners on adult learning principles and performance-based learning strategies.
Conduct needs analyses to identify performance gaps and recommend targeted learning interventions.
Partner with SMEs and stakeholders through interviews, observations, and working sessions to validate learning needs.
Align learning strategies with plant, launch, quality, safety, and productivity goals.
Design and develop learning experiences using ADDIE, SAM, rapid prototyping, and scenario-based learning.
Create engaging activities mirroring manufacturing challenges across equipment, process, quality, safety, and launches.
Develop design documents, objectives, assessments, and success criteria for plant floor performance.
Develop multi-modal learning assets (eLearning, ILT/VILT, videos, workshops, simulations, job aids).
Write facilitator guides, scripts, and standard-work resources translating complex concepts into usable content.
